Contao Live Update Service
The Contao Live Update Service is an electronic service which provides an update archive to update an existing Contao installation at the push of a button. The service does not include further processing of this archive by Contao, over which we have no control. Although the Live Update Service is integrated into the Contao back end, it is an optional service that is not required to run Contao.
System requirements ¶
Contao downloads the update archive via HTTP request from a central server. So if the PHP function fsockopen is not available or your internet connection is limited (e.g. by a proxy server), the transfer is not possible and the Live Update Service cannot be used without modification of the server configuration. In this case, please ask your server administrator for help.
Live Update ID ¶
To use the Live Update Service, you need a Live Update ID which you can order in our online shop. A Live Update ID costs 9,90 Euro, includes one domain license and is valid for one year. If you are running multiple Contao installations (e.g. for different clients), you can upgrade your Live Update ID to support multiple domains. Here is the current price scale:

A domain license is valid for one particular domain, which is registered automatically upon the first update request. If you are managing multiple domains with a single Contao installation (multi-domain mode), you do not need a separate license for each domain. The same applies if you are running several Contao installations on one domain.
