Overview of the web hosting features

Below you will find an overview of the features included in our hosting packages.

Domains ¶

All hosting packages include at least one free .de domain which is not restricted in any way. All accounts support multiple domains, so you can ma­na­ge several domains with a single account and register almost any top level domain with us. If your favourite top level domain is not mentioned in the price list, please contact our support for more information.

Mailboxes ¶

All POP3/IMAP mailboxes have separate logins and support multiple e-mail addresses. See your hosting plan description for the maximum number of mailboxes. All mailboxes support POP3, IMAP and SMTP. An autoresponder is available for each e-mail address.

FTP access ¶

Via FTP (File Transfer Protocol) or SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) you can transfer content and files (e.g. websites or images) from your local PC to the web server. Each hosting plan includes one FTP user. Additional FTP users with separate logins can be added.

PHP ¶

PHP is a server-side programming language which allows you to easily develop dynamic websites. We are using PHP 5 as default version, however you can activate PHP 4 in the control panel or in an .htaccess file. Individual php.ini settings are possible (depending on the control panel). Please contact our support if your scripts require special php.ini settings.

mod_rewrite ¶

This Apache module allows you to use static URLs for your dynamic website (search engine optimization). If you want to use search engine-friendly URLs in Contao, you will need mod_rewrite. It is included from "Web Business" and can optionally be added to "Web Home".

MySQL databases ¶

MySQL is a powerful database server which is easy to use, well documented, widely spread and flexible enough to even store images and log files. In the control panel, you can choose between version 4 and 5 (not available in Confixx). Communication with PHP is done using the MySQL or MySQLi interface. Web-based administration is available via phpMyAdmin.

SSL connection ¶

An SSL connection allows for encrypted data transfer between your web browser and the web server. We offer free shared SSL solutions (e.g. our SSL proxy) as well as custom SSL certificates with a separate IP address. Please contact our support if you need an SSL certificate.

Access statistics ¶

We offer two web-based statistics tools which log the page hits, visitors and other website usage details. Webalizer monitors your whole account in­cluding all domains and sub-domains. AW-Stats (might not be available in every account) creates an individual statistics per domain.

Directory protection ¶

Via the control panel or an .htaccess file, you can protect a particular directory with a username and password. This server-side protection is one of the most secure methods to protect ressources on the Internet.

Cron-jobs ¶

Cron-jobs allow you to schedule scripts to run automatically at a certain time or date. You can set any desired execution time or execution interval (e.g. hourly, daily, weekly or monthly execution). Cron-jobs are available in our premium packages.

Programming languages ¶

Besides PHP, we offer many other programming languages such as Perl/CGI, Phyton, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, SSI (Server Side Includes) or WAP (Wireless Application Protocol). See the description of your hosting plan for availability.

Contao Live Update ¶

The Contao Live Update Service is available free of charge for all hosting clients during the term of the contract. Please contact our support to re­quest a Live Update ID. Do not forget to mention the required number of domain licenses.

Backups ¶

We will back up your entire account once a day and we will keep these backups for three days. Thus all data can quickly be restored in case of a ser­ver failure. In addition, you can create and restore unlimited backups of your website using the control panel.

Our support is available for all questions regarding your hosting package during the whole contract term. You can contact us via e-mail at any time and by phone during business hours. Please note that we do not provide support for external products and third-party software.
